The chase is already under way.
A boar drives forward through the rocky landscape, with two dogs close behind. One runs low across the foreground; the other follows from the left. Mountains rise beyond the trees, ferns frame the path, and a bird crosses the open sky.
Your eye moves with them. The lifted paws, the turn of the boar and the different positions of the dogs give the scene its pace. Each animal holds its own place in a moment that feels as though it could carry on beyond the edge of the artwork.
