About Us

At Aroha Artisan, every piece is lovingly handcrafted by our whānau, celebrating the beauty of Aotearoa, our homeland. Our designs draw inspiration from the legends passed down by our Tupuna (ancestors), reflecting the Tikanga, Mana, and Wairua that guide us and are expressed through our mahi toi (art/workmanship).

We work with rākau (wood) and pakohe (dark grey slate), gifted to us by the whenua (land). This profound connection to the whenua enables us to seamlessly blend tradition with modern artistry and technology, creating a unique fusion of heritage and innovation. Each creation is a reflection of eons of time that has no beginning and no end, yet remains in our DNA, culminating in memories so familiar to us. We believe each piece is set aside for a Whiriwhiri (chosen one) who connects with the Wairau of that piece.

At Aroha Artisan, we are deeply committed to sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and practices to craft meaningful pieces that honor both the natural environment and the stories they carry not just here in Aotearoa but to other lands that they have been sent to.

When you choose Aroha Artisan, you are not just selecting a product — you are embracing a story, a tradition, or a legend that will personally touch your Wairua, bringing ātaahua (beauty) and hononga (connection) into your space.
